Donald Hires Sr:  

After graduation from PHS, I was lucky enough to get a job at Chemstrand (which became Monsanto and currently Solutia). What started out as just a job that would allow me to purchase a car (1957 MGA) turned into a real career. I hired into what the company called IBM, their name for machine accounting which morphed into Information Technology (IT). I became a computer programmer, systems analyst and project manager. I retired on April 1, 1996, All Fools Day, a very appropriate day. The company hired me as a consultant and I worked another five years. I completed my career by leading the Y2K conversion at the Pensacola plant. The consulting job ended on April 1, 2001, again a very appropriate day. On a more personal note: I met a lovely young lady from the Escambia Class of ¿63, we were married in June of ¿63 and have two children. My son has two children and four by marriage; their ages range from 9 to 15. Something of interest; my mother had triplets, (not me), our daughter was a triplet (she was the only one to live), and now she has twins (boy and girl, 7 years old)¿. I guess it really does run in families. My daughter has a new baby boy, born in April 2008. A little explanation about my Q&A: Indoor activities: Crafting is not really what I like, but wood carving was not on the list. I enjoy carving things like walking sticks, little turtles, dogs, monkeys, etc. I¿ll post a few pictures of my carvings. My video games consist of minesweeper and solitaire.
